Chandler

Pecan Capital of the World.

Our story is Oklahoma’s story.

When the 320-acre Chandler town site opened for settlement during the land run of 1891, thousands of settlers dashed up the steep hill to claim one of 2,208 free lots. Today, Chandler sits at the intersection of famed Route 66 and Oklahoma Highway 18 and houses a number of “Mother Road” attractions. In 1949, the state legislature declared Chandler "the Pecan Capital of the World," but Chandler’s economy these days is fueled by agriculture, livestock, oil and gas production, and Route 66 tourism.
