Hell's Half Acre
After the Land Run of '89, thousands flocked to Oklahoma City seeking riches in agriculture and oil, but others saw an opportunity in whiskey, gambling and other vices. Names like Big Anne Wynn, Daisy Clayton and "Kid" Bannister made their home in an area of the city called Hell’s Half Acre, which covered an entire block that ran from Second Street to Reno, and between Walker and Santa Fe.
